Welcome to the first temple and convent built in Morelia. The religious group named “Franciscans” began its construction in 1531, even before the city of Morelia was founded. The convent has been used as a museum from local crafts since the 1970’s.
. For example, there are the famous guitars of Parachio, the copper and clay pots and pans, and the colorful wooden or ceramic masks, you’ll be fascinated when you see them. The temple and convent are built with limestone. With only one entrance and tower, the façade is very simple. During the 30’s, many artists painted a mural in the interior of the convent, however, it was destroyed during the reconstruction of the 70’s.
