Spanish for “The Surrender”, this place is famous for being the spot where a Mexican born revolutionary named Vicente Guerrero was surrendered to the Spanish government for being a leader in the independence movement of Mexico against Spain. Here he was captured and held, to later be sent for execution to the capital of the state. This happened in 1831.
One particular experience I had in this bay was that as I was leaving the bay in my rental car (there is no electricity in this bay either), one man approached me and asked me if on my way out I could signal a taxi driver to come and pick him and his girlfriend up. I said “sure, you bet”…then I looked at him as he was walking back, and I looked at him and his girlfriend, and I said, “hey, come on, I’ll give you a ride, come on, hop on!” As we were driving back I asked him where he was from, “from Mexico City” he said. “Cool” I said, “so, where are you staying?” I asked. “At Santa Cruz Bay”, he said.
