From my point of view, this is one of the best temples in the city. It has an interior and exterior beauty, an excellent location facing el “Jardin Union,” and weekly parties held in it’s plaza. It’s style is Baroque and it has had many reconstructions. Not much remains of the original temple.

It was constructed between 1663 and 1784 by a Franciscan group named “Franciscanos Descalzos o Dieguinos,” It’s facade is a rose colored quarry.

In it’s plaza, the so-called “callejoneadas,” begin. They are a walk through the wide city streets accompanied by a musical group called “estudiantina.” The “estudiantina” is composed of young musicians dressed in classic Spanish outfits, who play both Spanish and Mexican ballads and upbeat songs as well.

These “callejoneadas” end in the cities most famous alley, “El Callejon del Beso.” This is definitely a famous, fun and romantic event where one can sing a long, be serenaded or participate in the dance. This is a great place to meet young people from all over the world and it will be an incredible experience.
